Juan de Fuca Table

Living in a highly active and dangerous earthquake zone, spurred an emotional vulnerability in artist and designer Lisa Turner, who began questioning the stability of Vancouver’s urban structure. The challenge was to realize this emotion into a three dimensional work. The Juan de Fuca Table is inspired by the fault line of the same name that runs parallel to the B.C. and Washington coast. The table is designed as two separate pieces that appear as one; reflecting the misconception of the earth’s stable surface.

In 2017 this work (edition 3/6) was acquired by the Canadian National Capital Commission-Official Residences Crown Collection.
